A5 Expedition Fly
« on: July 14, 2015, 06:33:44 pm »
So I've only ever used portaledges with the BD Simple fly or similar style (clip in in-line with the anchor, deploy if it rains) but I was lucky enough to pick up an old A5 double ledge with an expedition fly. It seems like if I want to fly I have to setup the ledge INSIDE of the fly? This seems like overkill for summer wallin in yosemite. Are there any tips to make the fly less of a pain in the ass?

Anyone with some bad weather big wall plans who wants to swap their simple style fly with my expedition fly? I'd be in to that.

Definitely overkill in the summer. Where these flys shine is in the winter, where even if the weather is clear they trap a lot of heat in, like a tent.

People are always looking for these.

Deploying the exp rain fly while on a good ledge makes it not so horrible.
