he had kindly put up a sign on the climbers sign at the begining of the approach stating he was doing a new route and to watch for rock fall. so i assume he knew where he was going.

no it was a spaniard and he had a sign saying how he was working on a new route and to watch for rock fall between astro man and great slab route. also that same year in february there was another team of euros putting up a new route over by horse chute, i never heard any more about this either.

buncha craks over by GSR. cool. nice of him to put up a sign... honestly.

same year in february there was another team of euros putting up a new route over by horse chute, i never heard any more about this either.

Route is immediately to the left of Horse Chute, to the right of WOS. Hard to see, hard to tell how many independent pitches, maybe only 4 or 5? If it goes where I think it goes, it climbs some thin little splitters on the face next to the Horse Chute mega dihedral then up. I remember seeing the portaledge under the WOS roof and then hearing that they were on the ground after some weather moved in. Seemed like the portaledge was up there for weeks, not moving.

Bringing them back from the dead! Don't know how I missed this TR before heading up to solo Afroman last Aug 2013

Afroman and HJ def different routes. I've soloed Afroman and climbed most of (all but the last pitch and a half) HJ with Mucci and Ezra. Afroman is def more exposed and overhanging than HJ, similar level of difficulty though.

Afroman makes a good solo, huh? Jim-I Hayden soloed it the season before we got on it. I soloed the first two pitches while waiting on Rambo... :-D

Fantastic solo! Every belay being a hanging belay means that I'd feel sorry for the second as they wait for the leader to finish.

I started the route with a bat-hammock as well. I laid in that thing for thirty minutes before deciding F this and rapping back to the ground and getting my ledge from the truck and finishing the route with a ledge. Best decision I've ever made.
