I think they just went up on the website either today or yesterday.

I bet they will be in the next catalog.

Right on.... I heard from Minerals a while back, he said they were close to production.
Didn't make the presses, hmmmm?
All good.

We sell to Mountain Gear and most of what they buy doesn't make the paper catalog. Space is very limited.

So now that they available on Mountain Gear, can you get them at the Mountain Shop in Yos.?
Title: Re: Tomahawks avaible at Mountain Gear now
Post by: KevinW on June 02, 2009, 10:02:04 am
I'm not sure if you can, I had originally heard that it was the Mountain Shop in Yos. who would be carrying them, but I had a friend ask for me when he was there last week and they had no idea what he was even talking about.
There seemed to be quite a lot of interest in them and I was worried that the supply may be somewhat limited, so as soon as Zac posted that they were available from MT I ordered a couple sets.

Are they a substitute for BD peckers or another tool in the toolbox?  they look real nice though.

I'm thinkin' a step up from the Pecker....
Title: Re: Tomahawks avaible at Mountain Gear now
Post by: hoipolloi on June 04, 2009, 02:37:20 pm
cool.  I just got paid, so Imagunna buy some.  I only have a few small peckers I scored for like 2 bucks each.  How many you think is a good number to pick up to start that thin pin rack? 3each large/med and like 2 small? or like 2each all???  Ill take them up to laughing at the void and pound them in.

Does anyone know how big these are compared to the BD offerings?

A comparison photo would be useful.

Nicely done guys!

So... Mt Tools is  just taking orders? they don't actually have them yet?
That would explain why my order still says "processing".
Title: Re: Tomahawks avaible at Mountain Gear now
Post by: T Moses on June 06, 2009, 12:47:24 am
Nobody actually has them yet.

Mountain Tools, Mountain Gear, and The Yose Mountain Shop will have them VERY soon.

Mountain Tools and Mountain Gear:  It's in the mail.

Check your local shops.  I have shipped to some.

Mountain Shop I'll deliver in person tomorrow (6th).  It really is rough having to deliver up there. ;)

More later.  Gotta sleep before the 4 and a 1/2 hour drive in the morning.

Ya, ummm... that's a rough gig you've got yourself there,  how do I go about applying for a job as delivery boy at T Moses inc. ? ;)

btw.. I have to say, the Tomahawks a pure genius, had I had them in the past, there would probably be 2 less fixed beaks out there today.

I'm actually having mine UPS'd to Kansas (the last place in the world anyone would need these)
then mailed to Canucksville for $5.50.

Otherwise.. if you live outside of the US , the shipping is going to cost you more then the Tomahawks.

Don't forget about the hopelessly out dated economic model know simply as the small locally owned business.

The climbing shop in Santa Cruz has a full selection too.

At least I know I have some of your gear.....namely a brace of Tomahawks.
5 of 'em. 2 of each & a center.
For there is a center in all things.
Mostly.
Cheers. Props, Theron & Bryan.

Ahhh yes....the TOTALLY outdated brick and mortar shops!  I totally forgot abou them.  Just kidding.

Where else do you get to fondle the goods without having to put the money down?

Shamless plug for all my retailers.  They are the best.  Pacific has a good selection of the goods.  Nomads in Escondido ordered but I'm not sure how distribution works with them.  Go in and ask.  Maybe it'll get the wheels turning.

The Mountain Shop should be well stocked.  Online sources should be stocked also.  As usual Mountain Tools & Mountain Gear.

I had Klaus make me some heads (short wire) med to large,

prolly good for some of those seams where the rock crumbles a few inches before you get to the good stuff!

Theron- Thanks for all of your work, quality products, real world testing, and a humble approach.

Keep up the good work and put me down for a couple of those hooks, great looking design!

You are filling a much needed gap in progression market.

Got my first set a few weeks ago, have not had a chance to use them but they do look sweet. Seems like they fill that gap nicely between the small and mid size peckers. Love the beefy cable and solid thickness.

Haven't placed the Tomahawk yet, but I have used the big radius hook today! wooot!!!  used it, with a back up tied off cobblestone to put in a bolt on a new route.

I've never been on that size of hook in the real world, and it was weird to get used to the slight flex, but good in that the flex kept it from skittering out of the pocket's left side.

I gotta finish a batch of #1's tonight.

Bryan and I have been busy working out the final details of the #2's.  All that reamins is the machining of the first batch.

D5 hammers have been in the works also.  T2's and D5's have been competing for my time.

The first two I ever placed was this spring on Grape Race. The first one went in about 3/8 of and inch and was bomber. The second one went in where a knifeblade never would have about 1/4 of an inch. I bounced and bounced on it and it didn't move a bit!

Pretty fricken cool tools if you ask me!

Marmot (Berkley), Mountain Gear, Yosemite Mountain Shop, Soon to go to Australia (Cliffhanger) and soon to go to the U.K. (Joe Brown's)

I only made 235 the first round so I expect to sell out pretty soon.

I think the #2's are ging to be a more versatile piece comparedd to the #1.  They are an excellent design (Bryan's fault not mine.).  These are probably going to be a better item for clean placement also.

Have fun with them and post some more photos of them in action.  I love the one pounded into the dirt!

Do you have any plans for canadian distribution? MEC (mec.ca) are pretty easy to deal with from what I've heard, and there are a few holes in their lineup that you could fill nicely.  Cam hooks are conspicuous by their absence from the catalog, for instance...

Title: Re: Tomahawks avaible at Mountain Gear now
Post by: T Moses on September 24, 2010, 12:06:22 pm
I don't have anybody in Canada yet.  Mountain Gear is the only one with international shipping who has the #2's right now.

Thanks for the heads up on MEC.  I don't know about a company that advertises "uppers and downers" on their website.  Sounds fishy to me.
