Bigwall bootie! (no, not that kind)
« on: March 28, 2011, 05:22:25 pm »
Besides rogue nuts and boring pins, what are your best scores?

WFLT:
#1 camalot that my partner and the previous party both tried and failed to retrieve.
Whole pitch of gear on P1+2, including a screamer, offset alien, and a dozen draws (I found the owner and mailed it all back to him, honest)

Mideast Crisis:
#2 camalot on the 3rd class starting ramp (and I was worried about having enough cams in the that size too!).
Black Alien on P4, in the same spot where I later fixed a different Black Alien...

6 Arrows, 2 TCU's, 2 nuts, & 4 biners. Oh, & there were 2 cans of ravioli, too.  Zodiac, Fall of '94.
Best haul from 1 Wall, anyway...

That was nice of you to return that stuff to G-Man Garbanzo!

I've got a whole rack of booty gear that I keep as loaners.

When John took that screamer on the last pitch of the Shield, he left behind a couple of cams, a couple of draws, a Metolius Easy Aider and a really old biner of mine. The gear is all fair game booty in my opinion but I'd really like that one biner back. It's an SMC oval with my initials stamped into it twice. Once in large letters and once in small letters. It was one of the first biner I ever bought and is about 40 years old.

If anyone hear about someone going up there early this spring, I'd like to know about it. Thanks,

The Captain has given me many good things.

In various incidents I have scored so much good stuff.

I can't recall which route it was, but we plucked an entire anchor, orange TCU Yellow Alien, a camalot biners, everything.  That same route we pulled a #4 out of a crack that had just been forgotten about or something...

We cleaned half a dozen pins, some beaks, a #2 camalot, and biners off another route...

Zodiac gave me an old OLD hex from deep within a flake, must have been expanded just right at that moment to let it free.  I also plucked an old 2.5 friend from the top, 2 moves from the summit bolts along with a grey alien!  Got that back to its original owner, for good karma.

I have scored a lot of stuff off the Captain, love scoring booty.

Zac and I found a head lamp below the nose all banged up, but it still works today! I have found a hefty amount of biners at the base of el cap, walk around long enough down there you may not have to lug much of a rack to the base. Some of the easy boulders around home are usually pretty well stoked with rap anchors from peeps that don't like to down climb the 5.easy.
