Totem Cams: The Aid Review
« on: September 14, 2011, 06:54:18 pm »
Sup Guys!  Long time no see.

So I just finished up a review on Totem Cams.  I focused entirely on Aid climbing and thought you guys might be interested!  I was skeptical of this design at first, but I have come to love it.  I have seen these cams do things that I couldn't make other cams do.  I think these things definitely have a place on the big wall quiver (I use them for free climbing too).

Let me know if you guys have questions.  I would love to talk about them (as I really think they are the shit).

That twin stem design is interesting. Can you work that to your advantage?
Like on a two lobe placement, or some such?

Nevermind, I got my question answered in the review.  (Yes, I should look more closely, the first time. )
Right on, Dave. I'm down to check out a couple totems.
Thanks!

Thanks for the info, hoi. They look like uniquely useful tools for aid.
Say no to limbers, excavators and retro-bolters. No matter how much he smiles.

Sort of Thread Drift, sort of not.

Just got the new Totem Basic Offsets. They seem to have a greater change in range between one side of the head and the other than my Metolius offsets that help compliment my rack. Placed them both on a Pinnacles aid climb this last weekend and they worked perfectly. (no pix, the higher up I got, the less I was willing to stick around on my pieces to take pictures)

Sometimes the difference between a layman and a journeyman is simply what he is allowed to believe himself to be.

ditto.  I have a set of offsets and basics.  Both are as good as it gets.
