Help a Gumby Pick a Route
« on: August 15, 2012, 11:18:27 am »
After getting my first wall under my belt when I slithered up the South Face of the column in May, I'm trying to plan a Fall mission.

Hmm...maybe I should make that an Autumn mission instead of a Fall mission.

Anyway, my intuition says go do WFLT next but wall climbing in itself is fairly counter-intuitive to me so I figured I'd throw it out there.

Suggestions for a good 2nd wall? LF? RNWF? The Prow?

I did it the other way, Prow to Leaning Tower, But Hell yeah, you're all over the Prow.
You could climb the Leaning Tower for a change of venue, it's a cool route in its own right, but the Prow is a better Line.
Half Dome Direct? Afroman? SkullQueen? Na Wall? Muir?
Lotta options there. I guess I'm no help. Sorry....;-)

If you're still in Gumby status then you're probably looking for something you can climb without nailing so Afroman is def out. I got a bit bored on the Prow and ended up bailing due to lack of stoke. I'm planning on heading back up to finish it just to get the mileage but, meh. WFLT is pretty cruiser. The 2nd pitch (Nanook topo) is the crux imo so if you can get to Ahwanee, you're golden to get to the top.
Sometimes the difference between a layman and a journeyman is simply what he is allowed to believe himself to be.
