Lost Arrow Direct Rap route
« on: September 05, 2015, 08:59:14 pm »
The topo shows a "rap route" starting in the notch. Supertopo also says you can rap the route. Does the notch rap end up back on the route? Can you leave bivy gear on Second Error and get back to it on the rap route?

Howdy,

Pretty sure the rap route goes down Yosemite Falls Wall to the right of the notch, as you are looking at the spire and wall. Never rapped it though. The route comes in from the Left of the spire. Werner has the beta on it.

Cheers,

Prod.

Supertopo says you can rap tip to notch, and then notch to p12 and then rap the route and even gives info for pitches you can link on rappel. But it sounds like there is a separate rap line from the notch. Here is an answer from Eric Sloan. I thought I'd re-post here in case anyone else was interested.

"No, the two are separate. There is a natural belay a couple up from the
Second Error that would make reversing more difficult.

Woot!

A buddy and me tried to do it in a day, bailed at pitch 11 (ST book) due to core shot rope.  We had no problems rapping down from there.
