Halfway out! On P4 of my route Steel Pulse 5.9 1000'

All stance drilled, solo, over 2 days. Despite the rating it may be my most committing solo FA. The "Pay to Play" pitch features 200' fall potential.

where be this?

How's this?

A pano of two of Tom's shots. Me leading and John belaying. We spent the night right there above the roof. It was sweet!

Munge,

No, it wasn't windy at all. In a vid we have, John mentions a "stiff breeze" but I wouldn't even call it that.

What program did you use to stitch it all together?  I have been wanting to get something for this.

Dave,

Photoshop does it real well. In fact, you can take a grid of shots and Photoshop will figure out which photo goes where!
Before I left Yosemite, I took six horizontal photos of Zenyatta Monatta from bottom to top. At home I stitched them together in Photoshop. Now, I have a highly detailed, high rez photo of the route. I enlarged it (it's very sharp), looked at all the photos I could find of the route and drew the line and anchors exactly where they are in real life. I have a Epson 7600 wide format printer that can print 24" wide by 100 feet long so I now have a photo of the route, 2 feet x 6 feet hanging on the wall in my home office.

Check out this one I did of Grape Race/Tribal Rite.

http://w3.gorge.net/mhudon/El%20cap%20solo.html

I'll gladly print up my Pano of ZM for you. $60 not including shipping. I do large prints for local photographers and for myself when I was taking landscape photos and selling my work.

Tom's photos are really good to do this with since he doesn't move significantly.

Here is another one made out of about five photos actually spread out over two years.
I never found enough photos to include Boot Flake and the King Swing.

PS4. I think PS5 is out. I haven't been keeping track since I'm not that into that kind of photography anymore.

Jesus, that flake on Scarface is more than just a little friend. I like to imagine that it's detached and just floating there so that i'll have more interesting nightmares.
Sometimes the difference between a layman and a journeyman is simply what he is allowed to believe himself to be.

Most of my more recent pics are on the other lap top waiting to be recovered, but here's a couple older ones to keep the stoke up for spring:
(Some Aid, some Free, mostly FA's)

This one was a FA.

Kevin drilling from hooks while working on what would become the route we named Devonshire 5.10d, 200m.

I was very much hungover in this shot.

Drilling some of the permanent anchors on another route.

Last October, this was the last route to be filled in at that single pitch crag (I know it's not "BIG"wall, but it has a hook).  LichenTRADition 5.8 R - no bolts, no pins, R becomes X if you don't have hooks.

Almost forgot, Tip of the Day:
Do not spill your pint of Traditional Ale on your lap top.
(though the new lap top has proven to be infinitely more skookum)
