Grey Aliens
« on: May 18, 2009, 10:22:00 am »
Does anyone buy the Grey Aliens...

They are supposed to fill a gap between the Yellow and Red sizes but I haven't found that to be an issue...

Also likewise with the grey/red and yellow/grey hybrids...

If I go buy what's available in the shops these sizes are probably the easiest ones to buy.

Thanks.

I hate the grey alien. Fucks up my whole system. I've also never once thought I needed a piece in between yellow and red. One or the other allways works.

I have a grey/yellow and grey/red offset for sale. Brand new unused. $50ea.

I think if anything they need a size between red and orange.

Never knew they made gray Hybrids. Those sound a little less hybrid-y than the rest of the set. Probably not as useful in scars, but those do sound like nice cams to me, Lam. Sadly, no cabbage at hand, and you prolly don't need Big Bros...

Cheers, guys.

Mike. they do make a size between red and orange. It's the gold, really hard to find but a good size.

Here's a link to CCH and it show's their sizes.

Right on, Zac. I reckon I had seen that before at some point.

Sheesh, I need my Orange. Somebody's gonna score when they stroll off route on N Ridge of Lone Pine. They probably did already...

I like the grey aliens.  It does fill a slight gap between sizes but normally some fidgeting will get yellow or red into that same spot.  I think I like them more for free climbing than for aiding though.  I think it is a good size piece but one you could live without.

I do think that the yellow/grey and grey/red hybrid is pointless though.  I can't really think of too many places where a pin scar would be so slightly tapered that you would need that specific piece and not the standard grn/yel yel/red

I think I bought my grey/red hybrids because I was excited that they had Hybrids at all and I couldn't contain myself. That being said, I'm doubled up on all sizes and it seems like a triple set might be a bit much but that grey/red somewhat gives you a little of two both sizes above and below. I could also just be trying to justify my purchase which is probabl mostly the case.
Sometimes I succeed. Sometimes I fail. Sometimes I am too lazy to do either.
