Yosemite bigwalls climbed 2010
« on: June 14, 2010, 03:54:42 pm »
Yo Gang,

Tom's mention yesterday about Lunar Eclipse coming back on the bridgedar got me thinking about an earlier thread in which we estimated how many times different wall routes got climbed. Many folks in that earlier thread seemed surprised when I suggested than many well-known routes receive 0-3 ascents max each year. Got me thinking. Probably easier to list the different wall routes that have gotten climbed this year than the ones that haven't. Be interested to see how many different routes we can list by the end of the 2010 season. Post up additional routes and I'll add em on. cheers!

Gold Wall:

Silent Line

W. Column:

Southern Man
South Face
Skull Queen
Prow
Ten Days After
Afroman
Astroman(doesn't really count, but whatever)
Mideast Crisis
Great Slab Route

Leaning Tower:

West Face

El Cap:

West Face
Lurking Fear
Squeeze Play
Never Never Land
Dihedral Wall
Salathe
Freerider
Pacemaker
Shield
Muir
Triple Direct
Grape Race
Nose
Tribal Rite
Genesis
New Dawn
Mescalito
Sea of Dreams
NA Wall
Aurora
Tangerine Trip
Virginia
Lost in America
Zenyatta Mendatta
Zodiac
Lunar Eclipse
Eagles Way
On the Waterfront

Half Dome:

Northwest Face

Higher Spire:

Northwest Face

Mt. Watkins:

South Face

Thanks Cap'en

Hard to believe that only 25 of the 500 bigwall routes in Yosemite have been climbed this year. Wonder what the final # for different route ascents will be for this year, over 100?

No one is cheering on those boys on Lunar more than me. They were making some ground today though still below the cruxes.

I was so sad to see those guys on Lunar...after our go last season, I really wanted to go finish it up before anyone else did =/

Nice list Nanook, interesting thoughts.

Cool thread idea, 'nook.

Hah...hoi, if anyone should be feeling slighted, it's the people who are not getting any mileage in. And that certainly would not be you!
Say no to limbers, excavators and retro-bolters. No matter how much he smiles.

West Face, Leaning Tower. Hope you get many responses. . . . though I think there are a lot of climbers (especially those from other countries) who won't see this survey.

Saw a TR from a March ascent of Mideast Crisis.  I can't wait to go back and do that one again, so far the best route I've done (I've done pathetically few...).

I think Pete said something about the Albatross. He'll do it, junk show & all.

As for me, I'll let you know. Or you can seek me, in the sky. I'll be there. Green ledge, green, blue, & chartreuse fly.

You already got our OTW! That was fast! Probably should add W Face of El Cap. I can't imagine its unclimbed this year.

Its funny how people think that every route gets climbed every year. PO is being climbed right now. The PO start almost never gets touched lately.

No LinA ascents yet? No Straw?
