Pins for the trip
« on: June 20, 2009, 11:06:46 am »
how much nailing does it take?

Similar to the discussion about the rack for the Zodiac, the ST pin rack seems heavy at

2 Rurp
2 Beaks
3 KB
6 LAs  1ea #1 + 4
          2ea #2 + 3
4 Angles   2ea 1/2, 5/8
4 Sawed  2ea 3/4, 1"
6 heads

I am hoping to go up to do the Zodiac but want to have the gear to jump on this if Zodiac has a line, so I figure I best take pins for both, since the clean gear is about the same, right?

Phishing for info..

2 or 3 beaks, 1 KB, 3 LA's(1 thru 3), 2 ea baby & 5/8, 1 3/4 , 5 assorted heads.
That'll easily do either route, if ya have a good selection of clean gear.

One or the other would be fine.....probably sawed, though.
You have a bunch of nuts & units(or aliens) right?
3/4 is like a yellow TCU. or just under.
When we did the TRIP, we used a baby, 1 LA, 1 3/4......that was all the pins we used.
There were a couple fixed, though.

I have

double set of aliens and a set of offset aliens
set of TCUs + 2x blue (one new one old) + Metolius 4cams to 3ish inches
2x Camalots from .4 - 3

WC Rocks
1 set peanuts + DMM offsets
3 HBs yel, grn, blu
lots of RPs + some other random small nuts

i think it should be more than enough for Zodiac or the Trip. (Obviously I am not bringing all this shit, just saying what i got)

Roger that....I'd like to be there now(anyone in Idaho headed for Yosemite?), but my old ride won't make the desert crossing, or Tioga.
Hopin' for Sept.......Cheers.

We climbed the route a month or so ago with the LIA to Virginia start amd placed no pins on the Trip. A couple "fixed" sawed arrows turned out to be self cleaning.

I would bring:
1 set cam hooks
2 each BD peckers SML
3 sawed angles (3 smallest sizes)
3 Lost arrows #'s 1,2&3
few assorted heads just in case

It'll go!!!
