carolina aid climbers
« on: August 21, 2009, 04:48:19 pm »
Hi
I've been lurking a little on this forum. I am looking for N. Carolina aid climbers. I have been unsuccessful in talking any of my regular climbing partners into trying some aid! I've been climbing more than 10 years (maybe approaching 15 years?) Mostly trad and alpine climbing, with a hearty helping of sport and bouldering too. Good amount of experience with long (Grade IV/V) free climbs, but I've never really done any aid climbing and I am looking to fix that. I am in Chapel Hill, and was hoping to connect with some Carolinians doing some aid. I'm pretty much a weekend climber, and can travel anywhere in NC (i.e. Looking Glass). Let me know if you'd like an aid partner; I love to suffer, I can attempt the easier aid pitches, I can clean, and I can certainly do my share of leading the free pitches.

Welcome, csp. Pull up a stump while ya wait for your eastern bros to surface.

From what I can tell, you guys have pretty stiff standards for aid. You'll come out to the Valley and cruise...

Stay psyched!
Say no to limbers, excavators and retro-bolters. No matter how much he smiles.

Hey bro, welcome to the site.

I hope this pans out for you and you get someone to suffer with... (offering beer usually gets people more inclined to teach) ;)

Stick with it and don't hesitate to ask questions around here. There are a ton of bad ass wall climbers willing to share their years of wisdom...

welcome dear Lurker,

Oh how I miss Looking Glass....

We used to drive down from Indiana to do weekend trips.  Talk about burly, 9 hour in the car, climb, then 9 hours back.  Make the 4 hour trip to Yosemite seem tame by comparison.

There might are few Looking Glass Climbers on this site but you could also check out the Red River Gorge forum.  I know a few people over there are psyched.

welcome

Yo csproul, I live in east TN and I'm always looking to climb! My partner and I are planning a couple trips to Glass in September, so if you're interested send me a PM and we can try and figure something out - if you've got some ascenders and daisy's/PAS' then we're in business. Just don't expect any Brain Dead, etc. with us yet, I'm still working on A2!
