23kg max on flights euro-us
« on: November 16, 2009, 10:03:53 am »
bad news for european wallrats
since 11.o1, the max bagage allowance is 23 kg per person, a second bag (max23kg) will be charged 100?(return).
23kg isn't a lot of gear for wallclimbing! maybe  gearrental will be the business of the future, at least all the heavy stuff like hammers, haulline, ledge....
a couple of years ago, it was 2 bags of 32 kg each on flights to north america.
i don't know if these new regulations also apply on flights booked in the us ... hopefully not! as for a good trip to the alps, 23  kg isn't very much either.

I think it depends on the airline you fly with.
This year it was 2x23kg from Germany to the US with Lufthansa.
That was at least a good reason for me not to fly with several other airlines,
that were cheaper but then charged a lot for baggage.
