First there was extreme ice skating on what is probably the only way to butch up ice skating (unless you play Ice Hockey for the NHL), that is, by doing ice skating in Yosemite Valley underneath the Time Machine with Half Dome in view.

On a hike out to Mirror Lake, where one can see Mt Watkins!!! one also walks past this unrecognizable formation...

two teams of two on The Prow...

Too warm and wet to do much quality anything. Climbed a mountaing on skinned up skis. Skied the slush back to the base. Jumped in the lake for a quick dip an a $20.00 bet, and called it a day. Not even hard enough to qualify as a training day. No pics, too wet to even unbag the camera.

  Anyone else?

Yes, the lower team is didder busting out a huge block, me belaying while the team above jugs their fixed lines for some more big wall cragging. I was out of the leading game that day, smoked rotator cuff pretty unhappy about my leads the prev day. It was a stellar weekend as you know. I woke up from my belay and snapped these:

Pretty much a wash weekend for mountaineering, but the wall cragging was great. TR on the Bridwell hammer's exploits forthcoming...
Say no to limbers, excavators and retro-bolters. No matter how much he smiles.

Holy cornice fall Batman!  Nice shots, Mike.

It's still full on Winter in the East.  Skiied Mt. Marcy in the Adirondacks with my son last Saturday.  16 mile round trip, 3000'+ gain, 6 hrs, 50+ mph winds on summit cone with lots of blowing snow, 7 sweet miles of downhill back.

Although its been the best Winter ever for skiing in WV, the wall bug is starting to itch . . .
