Mystery Euro Wall Routes in the Valley
« on: March 04, 2010, 03:18:49 pm »
Okay I've posted this multiple places and havent gotten shit for responses, not even a stir... anyways does any one know anything about these two routes?

1. In Feb of 2007 on El Cap there where some euros putting up a new route over by Horse Chute, there camp was up there for a while. We takled to them at the base, they said they were in fact doing a new route.

2. In May of 2007 on the Coulumn while we did TDA there was a solo putting up a new route over by Mid East Crisis. He had posted a sign in broken english on the climbers board at the start of approach stating he was putting up and new route and to watch for rock fall in that area. We heard him drilling a bit, but we never talked to him in person.

This is all I know. My past posts about these routes generated nothing as if I was just joking. So what gives anyone know anything?

I saw that dude on the column, up and down during the beginning.

I figured with all of the east side activity (nanook/Mike) might have some answers?

Those Euros are pretty clandestine whilst new routing in the valley.

Jack,

I'm somewhat speculating, but wasn't the Horse Chute area line you are thinking of discussed on Ansel Evan's blog/supertopo posts?  Might be hard to find the archives. But I think they had a yellow portaledge fly.

It was WAY visible, if it was the same route, when stopped into the valley a while back.

Again, it may not be the same folks. Just a thought.

Yeah, I'm not sure about these or many other FA's in the Valley.

Makes me so psyched for our future Yosemitebigwall.com with accurate photo overlays/topos/ect. of every single bigwall route in Yosemite.

That way people who put up routes will be more motivated to share--when we create a community space.

keep diggin!
