"Yo" to Mark Hudon, new BW.c member

Welcome to the small fire, Mark. Sorry, but you'll have to endure the lack of political threads...

Great to have a long-time pillar of the community here. I'd rather keep it to those that are active. No offense to hardpersons of yore, but I think if you wanna live glory days, go to SuperTopo.

Cheers, man. To the big stones.
Say no to limbers, excavators and retro-bolters. No matter how much he smiles.

Hey Mark,  Glad you joined the group. BW moves just a little slower than ST but, you dont have to put up with a lot of the extra BS.

Lots of good info. here

Welcome

Thanks!

I'm thinking this is my third comeback. I did a sport climbing comeback that ended when I decided that I didn't really care how hard the route was but that it should be longer than 80 feet. On my recent Shield (fall 09) attempt I realized that every time I talked about rock climbing I was actually talking about big wall climbing. I now have a few more NIAD plans and plans to climb Freerider as well as solo an El Cap route this spring. After that, The Shield, South Seas and I'm working on getting Max interested in a PO ascent.
I'm in great health and still very fit. I've been buying a lot of big wall gear so I'm planning (wanting) to do as many El Cap routes as I can before the old body starts to fade.

Thanks again.

Welcome Mark! As a still Bigwall newbie it's cool to have more folks with experience over here. I read your NIAD TR a while ago and loved it. Looking forward to the future TRs.  :)

Lead the charge, Mark...That's a nice hit list ya got. It's cool that you're into free and aid on a second level and into huge routes first. Size matters!

For me, The Rostrum, Astroman, The Reg Route on Half Dome, The Diamond, The Black Canyon, anything long, I'm all over it. Big Walls are great since you spend all day climbing! When I was sport climbing, I once trained 58 days for 24 days of climbing! I spent 15 days spread out over two years to climb a 5.13c at Smith Rock. Two years of effort for 120 feet of climbing! That was pretty much the end for me. I figure I'll be able to climb 5.11 till I'm at least 65 so there is a whole world of long routes open to me. Hell, I want to go back on the Nose and do it in 2.5 days but treat it as a regular long free climb where both climbers climb the route and do it "as free as can be" for me.

Once I get more comfortable at aid, I'm thinking that I'll get on some of the steeper, harder aid lines.

I'm not dead yet.

Damn Mark, real inspiring...  5.11 till your 65...  Love it.

Glad to have you over here, away from the ST bullshit.

I really love how you say "A lot" (in bold) of big wall gear....  I kinda get jealous, you know?

I like it Skully, Tribal Grape. Saw PTPP couple of weeks ago in the Valley thought he had a lot of Junk. Mark is giving him some competition for sure. Light and Fast Hudon is going to be just a little slower this time around hauling al that stuff.

He looks pretty effin dialed with all that shiny gear.

Nobody here is envious, right? Right?!

Once he gets in the upper biz, I'm gonna tap into some serious contact buzz.

Hudon gets it done...again!

Hehe, we all know it, Wade.

Tossing out a fat CONGRATULATIONS to Mark H. for topping out on Grape Rite. This long-time rock jock has reinvented himself as a big wall climber and shown that, with desire and a plan, great things can be achieved. Of course, being bad ass helps... Salute to this soldier now with another fine notch in the belt. Right on, man!

I'll post it here first and then over at ST. I'm hoping to incorporate the vids I took up there. Anyone know of a good vid program for the Mac?

Right on for posting where your TR will be appreciated most. Looking fwd to seeing it...

Mark, I've not used it but seen some work produced in iMovie by someone with no prior experience--he said it was not hard at all to use. If so, pretty good as a free OS app. Happy editing...

Hey Mark,

I do a lot of small Video stuff for my job, and like Mike said, IMovie is the way to go for what you are going to be doing. Great way to edit .mov and .jpeg stuff into one movie, and it's not hard at all.
