In the latest MGear catalog, the Metoluis Gizmo Belay Ledge

Basically a 20.5 x 39.5 portaledge... 5lbs 7oz for 390 dollars... recommended for Big Wall pushes!

Anyone seen one... Seems really expensive to me.

Agreed
four bills for a giant boogie board? Ouch

Fish One Nite Stand seems better thought out. Don't recall the price but I'm thinking much less.

I know, I really don't understand the use for that product.

Sort of like the IPad of climbing gear. Ah but someone will more than likely buy it. Why I am not quite sure but someone will. One can get a good full sized used ledge for the same price.

Yea, Slakk. Why not a single on push projects? Never tried it but always think about it. Multi-purpose rips. I'm secretly afraid of the 3-man single ledge stack ever since I learned it really happened.

single push 3 man..  single ledge - no prob.

rarely ever 3 peeps in the ledge - unless there's some sort of circle jerk...

but really !?! this ledge seems too little to be of good use..   its also almost 6lbs.

(although for photo work - i can not comment - why not wooden stiffy?)

fish one night stand - cheaper..

it might be comfortable to sit on when belaying, easier to deal with than a full single (trying to look at some positives).  I have been talking with a friend about making exactly this (because it would cost basically nothing to make, he has a good sewing machine).  Maybe it would be easy to.... clip to your harness while cleaning, sling over your shoulder??

*shrug*

I would NEVER pay even CLOSE to 400 bucks for that!

For a push...single for sure.

I agree with slakkey though it does seem sort of senseless. And if you are doing a single push id just leave the extra weight and hang in aiders / belay seat. But then again thats just me.

So far spent 6 nights on mine. Took it on Wapama rock and endured a snowstorm, took it into the backcountry and soloed 3 new Vs in the blazing heat off of it, climbed thousands of feet of approach slabs with it just clipped to my harness. Sometimes during the day piggy gets to relax on the ledge while I'm climbing, lucky. I can always rap off a hard pitch and return to the platform for resupply. Where are the extra beaks? Definitely a better hang than a hammok, way more comfortable, and easier to deal with equipment actually standing on something. At night I hang piggy next door and put my feet though the straps and its comfy enough to sleep. In the morning I can sit up on my little perch, get organized, relax. Gear/food bags come out of pig onto the ledge, clipped in, vacate the pig, find the beaks. Then its go time, and piggy gets the ledge again.

Never going back to a full single or double ledge for soloing Vs just because of the weight savings alone. I want to climb, not shuttle knee-banging loads up and down mountainsides.

Thanks Metolius for making it happen! You guys rawk! The Metolius Gizmo is my choice for light, fast, and badass!
