If I wasn't having a door sewn into my Metolius fly, I'd buy the double A5.

Who is sewing a door into that fly Mark?  That is a great idea.  I haven't had to use the fly yet, but I imagine I will soon and it seems like the lack of a door is a real set back.  You will have to post up some photos and some info about having that done..

Living here in Hood River, the Capital of Windsurfing in the Known Universe, I have lots of sail lofts to choose from. I'm having Sail Works do it for me. Bruce Peterson, the owner, although not a rock climber, totally understands the need for it to be beef and waterproof. Windsurfing sails have to be pretty bomber and he had some good ideas for the door on my Metolius.

That guy randomly puts up some good old A5 and Anker stuff. I just scored some cheap fly poles, which I needed.

Good to hear about the poles, they can be hard to find.

I'm still looking for a A5 Standard double expedition fly if someone ever sees one.

I just grabbed one of the Anker double flys and am now fondling it in my office. I'm going to pair it with a BD double ledge.

As I've only used a (borrowed) Metolious ledge before, I've got a question about the Anker fly.  It seems that the attachment point for the fly is a piece of 1" webbing that runs through the stuff-sack, through the peak of the fly, and then forms a loop into which I assume you clip the ledge. While I'm sure a 1" strip of webbing is plenty strong etc etc... there's still something a little insubstantial about that set-up.

Obviously, when zonked out on the ledge I'm still going to have a back-up, etc etc ... but as I recall, the attachment point for the metolious fly + ledge was a little more confidence inspiring. I'm not misunderstanding something about this fly, am I?

Nope....That sounds right.
It's perfectly bomber, dude. Or, yer gonna die fer sure.
Pick one.

Just check out the stitching if you think it's suspect. 1" tubular is plenty strong.
I've ridden out a couple good storms on just that very rig.

Thanks, I figured that was the answer, but I'm enough of a worry-wart that I thought I should check.

And I am gonna die for sure. As I understand it, it's just question of when.

I already have one of these, but I might try for it.

I also have the breathable version, but the prevois owner packed it wet so it smells like mildew. The mold was confined to one patch on the corner cordura fabric. Any ideas for getting the smell out?

Febreeze is pretty awesome for normal smelly stuff.

but never tried it on a hard core spot without bleaching the living crud out of it to kill the infestation off.

Say no to limbers, excavators and retro-bolters. No matter how much he smiles.
