Summer wall suggestions
« on: July 15, 2010, 10:24:04 pm »
Why didn't she leave me in the Fall???

So my girl left me and here I am wanting to go solo a wall so I can get my head straight. I need to deal with moving first so that leaves me with not being able to get away until the end of July. I need a suggestion on what to climb that I won't die from the heat.

Any ideas? I think I can step it up from my last wall, Ten Days After. Big wall Kate said to try something on Liberty Cap, but I've never looked at anything on it...

Zenith. or Tis-Sa-Ack.
You will NOT fry.
Liberty Cap is cool & all, but the Half Stone rules in Summertime, man.
Seriously.

Hope it all works out on the homefront Caz, keep it up with the positive attitude.

Forget about Liberty Cap.

Crispy Critters was our mantra, and it only made it to the low 90's.   Not alot of wind up there.

This is stuff I have wanted to do during the heat:

Any one of the coiler routes on the spires, bound to be big fun up there.
A bit on the obscure side though...
Most are in the A3 range, if you check Supertopo there is a thread going around with most of the routes and locations.

Higher Asperations is said to be a good romp, with moderate nailing.

Falls wall, never been there but the sun window looks fairly short on the West side.

Leaning tower- WDD? Disco Strangler?  Skully knows about that one I think.

Mt Watkins- Bunch of long routes and it goes into the shade pretty early.

Good luck man, and keep the psych!

Yo Zac,

Hang it high brutha!

Higher Aspirations is good, all day shade. Half Dome is a hike but shady.

Mucci--what did you just write on this post bro? Mt. Watkins and Liberty Cap have small shade windows?? Falls Wall?? Fughetaboutit.

Hell, if you're gonna think like that the Southeast Face has the best routes for soloing and has 9 to 5 Sun.

Then again, anyone smart enough to be on this forum knows that once you're 5 hundred feet up the Captain is almost always 75 and breezy.

cheers

Zac,

no worry?s man, i doubt its as simple as she just left you... i mean after all i remember drinking with you down at Kias beach party a few months ago and you said you were ready to ditch her... so now that you have her off your back lets get to some climbing done.. i would go do the Dome, and if your really "hurting" do something out of your comfort zone.. you will forget and intern you shall remember.

Zac, if you need to get out of town,  http://www.bigwalls.com/forum2/index.php?topic=939.0 (just down the page) Mungee has this little tidbit, and if you arrived late in the week, like a thursday, I'd ferry loads for you, and maybe even follow you up, solo of course.

Kris,

Give me a call if you really want to do a wall... I need out of my comfort zone right now!

I just lost a big gig I do, so I have some time off coming up. I don't have internet since I moved out so I won't be on much for a bit, but I'll send you my number on FB...
